RE-OPENING OF SHELLFISH HARVESTING AREA

The Secretary of Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), pursuant to Natural Resources Articles §§4-1103 and 4-1106(d), Annotated Code of Maryland, will reopen the following portion of natural oyster bar 7-4 located in the waters of Queen Anne’s County effective Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 5:00A.M. Oyster harvesting will be permitted in Kent Narrows South of the Route 50 Bridge at Kent Narrows and North of a line between the southwest tip of Kent Narrows and the north side of Wells Cove until the close of the oyster season on March 31, 2009 in the following area:

Kent Island Narrows, Queen Anne`s County - All that area of Kent Narrows, south of a line beginning at a point at or near the intersection of the shoreline and the West end of the U.S. 50-301 highway bridge over Kent Narrows; defined by (38°58'15.7" North Latitude 076°14'53.7" West Longitude) then running about 105° (true) to a point at or near the intersection of the shoreline and the East end of the U.S. 50-301 highway bridge over Kent Narrows; defined by (38°58'14.3" North Latitude 076°14'47.2" West Longitude); and north of a line beginning at a point at or near the shore at the southwest tip of Kent Narrows, (defined by 38° 58' 0.2" North Latitude and 76° 14' 49.5" West Longitude); then running approximately 117° (true) to a point at or near U.S. Coast Guard Daymarker “8”, (defined by 38° 57' 54.8" North Latitude and 76° 14' 35.7" West Longitude); then running approximately 12° (true) to a point at or near the shore at the north side of Wells Cove, (defined by 38° 57' 55.9" North Latitude and 76° 14' 35.4" West Longitude), excluding the area below.

The area of Kent Narrows listed below remains restricted to shellfish harvesting under the authority of the Maryland Department of the Environment.

Kent Islands Narrows, Queen Anne`s County -Kent Island Narrows lying easterly of a line running 100 feet off the east shore of the Narrows from the Flashing Green 4 second light "13" (38°58'36.19" North Latitude, 76°14'47.63" West Longitude) at the northern end of the Narrows to Daymark "8" (38°57'54.8" North Latitude, 76°14'35.7" West Longitude) near the entrance to Wells Cove.
