The Secretary of Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), pursuant to Natural Resources Article §4-1106(d), Annotated Code of Maryland, is closing the following areas located in the upper Chesapeake Bay, including Natural Oyster Bars (NOB) 4-1 and 2-8 known as Mountain Point, Six Foot Knoll and Seven Foot Knoll to oyster harvesting from Friday, October 2, 2009 through Friday, October 30, 2009. Oyster harvesting will reopen Monday, November 2, 2009.

The area on NOB chart 4 enclosed by a line beginning at Mountain Point and running easterly through Baltimore Light to Craighill Channel, then continuing northward along the Channel to Buoy G “15", then westward through the Craighill Channel Rear Range to shore.

The area on NOB chart 2 enclosed by a line beginning at Craighill Channel Buoy R “18" and running in an easterly direction to Swan Point Channel Buoy R “8", then northerly to Brewerton Channel Eastern Extension Bell Buoy “2BE”, then westerly along the channel edge to Buoy R “2B”, then southward along the Craighill Channel to Buoy R “18". The Nine Foot Knoll Oyster Harvest Reserve within this area remains closed once the larger area reopens.
