Robert Bruce of Sykesville, Maryland was trolling a crankbait at Liberty Reservoir on September 14, 2000 when he hooked up a 49 inch 47 pound 2-ounce striper with a 32-inch girth. That rockfish broke the previous State record of 44 pounds 8 ounces set by Dean Barrick in May of 1999.
