0 What do Plants Need to Grow?

You will need: You will need: 4 milk cartons, soil, seeds, and scissors.

Do This: Cut off the top of the milk cartons to make planters.

  1. Cut off the top of the milk cartons to make planters.
  2. Decorate with roving or paper.
  3. Fill the cartons with soil.
  4. Plant the seeds in the soil. Dampen the soil.
  5. Wait. After the seeds sprout, divide the cartons into 4 groups to test growing conditions.
    1. Plant "A" has soil, water, light, but 'NO Air'. Wrap a plastic bag around the plant.
    2. Plant "B" has soil, water, air but 'NO Light'. Put the plant inside a cardboard box.
    3. Plant "C" has soil, air, light but 'NO Water'.
    4. Plant "D" has soil, air, light and water.

    Test growing conditions...
