Plantations
Plantations are forested areas where
nearly all of the trees were planted. Extensive plantations of white pine and red pine trees are found in Garrett, Frederick, and Baltimore Counties.
These trees were planted in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Since then, smaller plantations of mostly white pines have been established across the State, and extensive plantations of loblolly pine have been established on the Coastal Plain Province.
