Cryptozoology is the study of previously unknown species--cryptids.

The validity of cryptozoology has been in question for a number of years. When most people think of unvalidated creatures, tabloid magazines with doctored pictures come to mind. But there are people who devote their lives and hard work to seeking animals that are new to human eyes.

Many scientists who do not involve themselves with cryptozoological projects do not consider cryptozoology a real science. When people report strange animals in nature, some cryptozoologists may take it as truth. Other scientists criticize the lack of scientific method in cryptozoological research. This is not to say that all cryptozoologists are frauds, but many times cryptozoologists are criticized for incomplete evidence and research.
