St. Inigoes

Located less than 5 miles south of historic St. Mary’s City in St. Mary’s County, the 985-acre St. Inigoes peninsula’s includes 8 miles shoreline separating the St. Mary’s River and Smith Creek. The property’s features would make it a suitable future state forest.

Captain John Smith most likely viewed the landscape while hugging the shoreline of the Potomac River on June 17, 1608. Preservation of the St. Inigoes property also helps to prevent development encroachment upon the U.S. Navy’s Webster Field.
