It’s time to think about summer activities for your kids. Camps, workshops, outdoor trips…..there are so many options and opportunities.

Whether you are a grandparent, aunt or uncle, parents or even a single parent, you know you are doing the best for your child by allowing them to have a memorable quality life experience communing with and understanding nature and the outdoors. DNR Online has assembled a list of quality summer activities sure to stimulate your kid’s imagination and broaden their appreciation for Maryland’s natural resources.

Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs
Summer fishing clinics are available at four sites in Maryland for youth ages 8-15.  This free program instructs basic fishing skills, conducts hands-on environmental activities, and many days of fishing.

The campers spend Mondays in the Tawes Garden doing nature and crafts activities. The remainder of the week is spent enjoying field trips to various parks and nature centers. Children can attend only one session each summer.

Sessions are Monday - Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
There is a limit of 12 campers/session.

Students learning stream scienceNatural Resources Careers Conference
This co-educational conference provides a real opportunity for high school students interested in a career in Natural Resources to learn from resource professionals and explore the fields of natural resources management and conservation through hands-on field and classroom exercises. The MD Association of Forest Conservancy District Boards is currently taking applications from Maryland high school students for scholarships to attend the Natural Resources Careers Conference. The weeklong conference will be held in Garrett County July 19-25, 2009.
Deadline for applications is April 30, 2009.

Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center - Camp 2009
Camp 2009 will include exciting and fun environmental education activities focusing on conservation, stewardship, bay restoration, "green" practices and will be partnered with problem-solving challenges and interactive games of strategy.

There will be two separate sessions of camp (July 20-24 and July 27-31, 2009). Located in Grasonville, Maryland this is an extraordinary opportunity to inspire stewardship in your kids. For information call 410-827-6694 or visit www.bayrestoration.org
