Western Maryland Ice Storm Clean up: MCC to the Rescue

The DNR Snapshot features the crew of the Maryland Conservation Corps. The MCC have fostered the growth and development of thousands of Maryland's young adults. Also, through the efforts of these young adults, innumerable service projects have been completed. MCC crews now assist in the operations and management of public lands such as Greenwell State Park and Elk Neck State Forest.

Thousands of miles of the Chesapeake watershed have been mapped and surveyed, tens of thousands of hazardous trees have been removed, and hundreds of thousands of discarded tires have been reclaimed from Maryland's public lands. In addition to this impressive list of achievements, MCC has conducted environmental education programs for sixty thousand Maryland students.
