NRP Underwater Operations Unit (UOU)

The purpose of the Maryland Natural Resources Police Underwater Operations Unit (UOU) is to assist field officers with specialized dive related services in recovery operations. The Underwater Operations Unit serves as the primary unit for all searches below the surface of all waters of the state where the Natural Resources Police are the primary investigating agency. Additionally the NRP UOU can assist allied agencies for police dive related services upon request. The UOU can provide the following specialized services.
- Body recovery.
- Evidence Recovery.
- Investigations.
- Maintenance.
- Side scan sonar operations (3 side scan sonar units regionally deployed around the Chesapeake Bay).
