Cedarville State Forest

History Mystery Quest

Introduction to Quest

You may already know that Park Quest is five years old this year, but did you know that Marylanders have enjoyed their State Parks for many years – some for over a century? This year, Park Quest is featuring this special on-line Quest to help your Team explore the rich history of Maryland State Parks.

Quest Information

To complete the History Mystery Quest, gather your Team around the computer and watch the Outdoors Maryland segment below, The Best Days of Our Lives: The Centennial of Maryland State Forests and Parks (made available through the kind support of Maryland Public Television). This segment of Outdoors Maryland was originally produced and shown on MPT in 2006 as part of our Centennial celebration.

Watch "The Best Days of Our Lives: The Centennial of Maryland State Forests and Parks" from this link to Maryland Public Television's website.

After you have watched the video, please consider the following questions and write the answers directly in your Park Quest Passport.

Passport Questions

  • Question #1: What was Maryland’s very first State Park, established in 1907?
