Introduction To Quest
A hidden treasure located in Dundalk, the North Point State Battlefield was once the location where American soldiers stood firm against British advancement in defense of Baltimore. The Battle of North Point delayed the British enough to enable further fortification of the port city, and, as a result, Baltimore did not suffer a British raid during the War of 1812. Travel back in time to the North Point State Battlefield and immerse yourself in the history, culture and landscape of this historic battle fought on September 12, 1814 by participating in a letterboxing quest through the park. A bonus Quest that paints a larger picture of the War of 1812 is located at North Point State Park, where participants will travel down the “Defender’s Trail,” part of the historic route to Baltimore, enjoying the natural landscape and learning about America’s "Second War of Independence."
The Quest at the North Point State Battlefield begins at the large bulletin board under the flag poles. From there, participants will gather clues from small letterboxes, hidden throughout the park. Each letterbox provides guidance to the next until participants arrive at the very last box where the Park Quest passport stamp is hidden. The master lock code to access the clue in the first letterbox is 1812.
The Bonus Quest at North Point State Park begins in Parking Lot A. Once you have entered the park, stop at the gatehouse and show your passport.
