Special Event Support

Want to help out and have fun at the same time? The North Point State Park Volunteers host several signature events throughout the year. Many of these events require extra help due to their popularity. Assistance in fundraising efforts before and during events and help with setup and cleanup are a few things that are needed for all events. Here are a few of our signature events where specific help is needed:

  • Easter Egg Hunt: Occurs around the Easter Holiday (April). Location mainly held at the visitor center, but may vary. Children ages 3-12 can participate in an Easter Egg hunt and play games. Prizes are awarded and refreshments are sold. Children can also have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny. Help is needed with registration, selling refreshments/snacks, hiding eggs and other duties as needed.
  • Earth Day: Occurs around Earth Day (Mid-late April). Volunteers can come down to the park and assist with clean-up efforts such as picking up trash and driftwood along the beach, landscaping (mulching, lopping), planting trees and more! Great for completing community service hours!
  • Youth Fishing Derby: Mid-July, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Catch and release derby for youth ages 4-15 held at the gazebo at the park. Casting contest is held after the fishing derby. Prizes are awarded after casting contest and are given out for Most Fish Caught, Biggest Fish and Most Unusual Fish (if one is caught). Help is needed for registration, measuring fish, taking out groups of youth to fishing areas and other duties as needed.
  • Santa's Workshop: Early December, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Pictures with Santa, crafts, train garden, light refreshments and secret Santa held at the visitor center. Help is needed with crafts, secret Santa, selling any snacks/refreshments and other duties as needed.

Trail Maintenance

If you like to hike, consider volunteering to help maintain the trails in the park. We need volunteers on a regular basis to walk or bike (where permitted) the trails and look for problem areas that need attention, assist with the correction of these problems, pick up trash and lop back brush that is hanging over the trails. Suggested hours: 2-4 hours per week.

Visitor Center Aide

Do you enjoy interacting with people face-to-face? Consider helping out at our visitor center. Answer the phones, provide information, greet visitors and perform general office tasks. Assist rangers and maintenance staff in day to day park clerical duties, data entry or other computer work. Our visitor center is open Memorial Day to Labor Day, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Suggested hours: 5 hours per week.

Volunteer Recruiter

Help recruit more volunteers! Make fliers to distribute to park visitors or simply ask our visitors if they are interested in volunteering! Explain what programs the volunteers host and what they have done to help out North Point in the past. Suggested hours: 2-4 hours per week.
