National Monument
President Barak Obama issued a proclamation on March 25, 2013, declaring the land on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, where Tubman was born, lived and traveled as a national monument. Senators Ben Cardin and Barbara Mikulski also have submitted legislation to create a National Historical Park including land in Dorchester, Caroline and Talbot Counties.
