| Historic/Cultural Features | Prior to the development of the park the area was primarily farmland. In the 1730's Mr. Evitts traveled west through the frontier after a disastrous love affair. It is said he had his home on the top of Evitts Mountain and lived out the rest of his life as a hermit. The remains of his homestead and some scattered apple trees are still visible at the top of Evitts Mountain. |

| Description | This scenic hike passes through a variety of habitats and crosses over four foot bridges. Hikers will pass the Scales and Tales Aviary along the trail giving them the opportunity to view several species of raptors including owls, hawks and vultures. The trail will also cross over the spillway in the dam area of the lake. Guests will wind through the campground area and past the pavilions. Along the trail hikers can view a variety of wildlife and waterfowl. This is a very scenic and relaxing hike with minimal hills or inclines. |
