Algonquin 50K

The Algonquin 50K is a pancake-flat, fast, fun trail ultramarathon on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The course is an out and back with a loop in the middle traversing the Algonquin Cross Country trail in the Pocomoke State Forest. The race begins and ends at the Milburn Landing area of Pocomoke River State Park and offers a mix of single and double track trails with a few short roads, some water crossings, and a lovely stretch of "Delmarvalous" sand. It's unique terrain and amazing support makes it a must-run race on the East Coast. Join us in February and be ready to outrun The Goatman! Algonquest Fat Tire Bike Festival

Algonquest Fat Tire Bike Festival-The Algonquest is a fun, family style race, fat bike celebration, and camp out showcasing the biking trails of the Pocomoke State Forest. Fat bikes are generally a 26 inch bike with 4 to 5 inch tires. They are made for snow which means they are also great in sand which cyclists will find along portions of the Algonquin Cross Country trail. The race begins and ends at the Milburn Landing area of Pocomoke River State Park and offers a mix of single track and double track trails. Tortoise & Hare Dare 5K
April 21, 2018 (rain date April 28, 2018)
Tortoise & Hare Dare 5K- The Tortoise and Hare Dare is a free 5K Walk/Run and is a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while getting some physical activity with family, friends, and neighbors. After the walk, participants are encouraged to visit local health, recreation, and community exhibits as well as meet Smokey Bear. The "Just Walk" event is co-sponsored by the Worcester County Health Department, Worcester County Department of Recreation and Parks and Pocomoke River State Park.

Earth Day Celebration

10 a.m. - 12 noon
Join the naturalist and a park ranger for the 1st Annual Native Garden Clean Up. Meet at the Shad Landing Camp Store. Volunteers are welcome to donate a native plant to the garden. Enjoy an Earth Day craft and visit community exhibits in the Manokin shelter from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. More information, call 410-632-2566.

National Trails Day

Independence Day Pool Party
July 4, 2018
10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Visitors are welcome to join us for a 4th of July celebration at the Shad Landing Pool. Scales & Tales program with live animals, arts & crafts (bring your own t-shirt for tie dye), games, races, and even a cannonball contest! Free admission from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. with a donation of canned good or non-perishable food item for local charity.

Youth Fishing Derby
August 12, 2018
9 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
