Stream Waders Volunteers

Stream Wader Volunteers

Since 2000, the Stream Waders Program has worked tirelessly to assist the department in assessing the health of the freshwater streams in Maryland. Each year, volunteers survey sites for benthic macroinvertebrates (bugs!) and learn a lot about the health of the streams in the State.  Put on your waders and learn more about your waters!

Watershed Associations

DNR Volunteer Opportunities

There is a good chance a watershed association is working in your area. This is the place to go for information on water monitoring interest groups outside of the department. If your looking to learn more about Maryland's waters in different scales, this might be the place for you. You can learn a lot, and then participate to help conserve and protect our valuable aquatic resources.
