Sustainability Events
The listing for event calendars below, other than the Maryland Department of
Natural Resources (DNR) event calendar, are from organizations outside of DNR.
If an event of interest is located contact the host organization directly for
questions.
Most events feature hands-on activities to teach children and adults the
importance of environmental stewardship. If the event is only a few hours be
sure to check out their website if it will be held at a park. Many of the parks
offer activities such as boat rentals (kayaks, canoes and paddle boats), bike
rentals or hiking.
For those that leave the event or day at the park wanting more, DNR’s Park Quest
program will be sure to satisfy everyone.
Park Quest is a program people sign up for and try to complete a number of activities
throughout the summer. There is a specific activity for each park such as
crabbing, hiking, fishing, and more. The activities are entered into a journal
format and the participants are entered into a drawing held at the end of the
summer. Visit the site, pick your team and get ready to explore.

Sustainability Tip
Install a rain garden or rain barrel to catch rainwater. Stormwater rushing off of roofs and lawns carries pollution directly into streams and the Bay. Rain gardens and rain barrels slow the water down and keep pollution out of our waters. Click here for other helpful information.Join the Sustainability Network

The Sustainability Network is a place where interested citizens, businesses and organizations can share ideas on projects and make connections between others who share their interest.
