Rustic Cabin Loop
The Rustic Cabins are closed due to renovations. Disturbances associated with construction should be expected Monday-Friday in the Fall of 2023-​Fall 2025.

The Park Store is open seasonally. Firewood and ice are sold outside of the Park Store via an honor box system ($5 per bundle of wood, $2.50 per bag of ice), cash or check only.

The Nature Center is open seasonally. To learn more about educational activities you can enjoy during your stay, please visit the Maryland Park Service's DIY Park Quest website and download or print one or all of the "Pick a Park" Activities.



​The park has 250 campsites, four youth group sites, five four-person mini cabins, four six-person camper cabins, and six rustic cabins. The park store will be staffed on weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Firewood will still be sold.


General Rules and Important information:

  • No alcohol is allowed in the Camping Area.
  • A maximum of six people can camp at each site.
  • All camping equipment must be set up on the tent pad.
  • Vehicles must remain on designated parking areas/driveways.
  • Visitors must pay the standard day-use charge and must exit the campground by 10 p.m.
  • Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m.
  • Check-in time is between 3 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
  • Check-out times are 11 a.m. for cabins and 1 p.m. for campsites

All campsites are equipped with a fire ring with grill on top, picnic table and a lantern post. Each camping loop has a central bathhouse with hot running water for showers.

Generator Policy: The operation of generators is prohibited during the established quiet hours (10 p.m. to 7 a.m.).

At times outside of quiet hours, all aspects of their operation must conform to standards designed to prevent disturbing other visitors and to preserve the peace and tranquility of the park environment, to include COMAR 08.07.06.20(F). Directions:

Follow Route 272 South, 1/4 mile past park headquarters, turn left onto Campground Road, into the Elk River Area, across from the North East Beach entrance.


Camping Loops

Each campsite has a fire ring with grill, picnic table and lantern post. Each camp loop has a central bathhouse with hot running water and showers. Listed below are the base prices per night for each of the park's camping loops.

*In addition to this base price, non-Maryland residents will be charged an additional $1 fee per night. Weekend and Holiday nights will also cost an additional $1 fee per night. A one-time $6.25 transaction fee is charged per stay. Fees are subject to change without notice.

Mini Camper Cabins

Mini camper cabin at Elk NeckThe park has two different kinds of camper cabins: four-person and six-person.

  • ​Four-person Cabins: One double bed and one bunk bed, sleeps four people. Base Price (per night)*- $55.50
  • Six-person Cabins: One double bed and two bunk beds, sleeps six people. Base Price (per night)*- $65.50

Amenities for either cabin: Ceiling light with fan and electrical outlet, outdoor picnic table, small open porch, fire ring with a grill on top, heat and air-conditioning, pets are prohibited.

Restrooms are located in a centralized bathhouse. A 2-night minimum stay on weekends and 3-nights on holiday weekends is required. Please note: mini camper cabins do not have running water or a refrigerator. You must provide your own linens, pots, pans and utensils.


Rustic Cabins

One double bed and one bunk bed, sleeps four people. Base Price (per night)*- $50.50

Amenities: Ceiling lights with fan and electrical outlets, refrigerator, oven and electric range, cold running water at kitchen sink, small indoor table and outdoor picnic table, small open porch, fire ring with a grill on top, pets are prohibited.

Restrooms are located in the central bathhouse with hot running water for showers. A 2-night minimum stay on weekends and 3-nights on holiday weekends is required. Please note: Rustic cabins do not have heating or air conditioning. You must provide your own linens, pots, pans and utensils.


Service Charge

Visitors must pay the standard day-use charge and must exit the campground by 10 p.m.


Nature Center

Learn more about the natural and cultural history of Elk Neck by visiting the park's nature center (open hours vary, call the park for details). See live animals, local history displays and hands-on activities for all ages. Naturalists offer programs during the spring, summer and fall including canoe adventures, campfire programs, reptile shows and guided hi​kes. For upcoming events, check the park bulletin boards or the online calendar for dates and times.

Pets
